Paper Smooches Sparks | Anything Goes

Good morning!

I have a card for this week's Paper Smooches Sparks Anything Goes challenge.

I used Flap Happy and Chit Chat for my card.  I stamped the butterflies on vellum then embossed them with Blush Zing embossing powder. I stamped the "thanks" with with gray ink and added gems below each of the butterflies.

That's it for me today! And check out the other design team members and their awesome cards. :)

Papertrey Ink | March Blog Hop

Good morning! Today I have a card for this month's Papertrey Ink Blog Hop. The challenge is to create something with a glossy finish... embossing powder, clear cardstock, or Glossy Accents.

I really like the look of clear embossing powder over plain cardstock, which is what I did on my card. I die cut the star border with Papertrey Ink's Super Star Border die from Raspberry Ink cardstock. I applied VersaMark ink, then covered the die cut with embossing powder and heat set it. For extra shine, I added another layer of clear embossing powder.

(Supplies - Stamps: (Papertrey Ink) Big Ticket Basics, Get to the Point Sentiments. Ink: (Papertrey Ink) Raspberry Fizz, Orange Zest, Hawaiian Shores. Cardstock: (Papertrey Ink) Orange Zest, White, Raspberry Fizz. Dies: (Papertrey Ink) Super Star Borders, Big Ticket Basics, Seeing Stars. Felt: (Papertrey Ink) Hawaiian Shores. Patterned Paper: (Papertrey Ink) Aqua Mist patterns pack.)

That's it for me today! Thanks for stopping by. :)

Fusion | Challenge #6

Hi there! Today I have a card for this week's Fusion Card Challenge.

I used the flowers from the photo and the sketch as my inspiration.

I pulled out several things from this month's Studio Calico kit, Office Hours, and the plastic hearts from the Sugar Rush scrapbook kit.

(Supplies - Stamps: (Studio Calico) Rainy Day stamp set from the Office Hours kit. Cardstock: (Hero Arts) Punch. (Neenah) White. Acrylic hearts, banner: Studio Calico. Patterned Paper: Studio Calico. Star gems: Queen and Co. Other: Twine)

That's it for me tonight. Thanks for stopping by!

Lawnscaping Challenge # 78 | Clean and Simple

This week's Lawnscaping challenge is not much of a challenge for me (because I love CAS cards!).

I pulled out Into the Woods to create the small scene on my card. I stamped the tree trunk first with Memento Luxe Rich Cocoa ink on the white rounded square die, then stamped it again on a sticky note. I masked the trunk with the sticky note, then used my blending tool to cover the white cardstock with Broken China distress ink. I stamped the fox with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and colored it in with Copic and Spectrum Noir markers. Both sentiments were stamped with Bahama Blue Memento Luxe ink.

(Supplies - Stamps: (Lawn Fawn) #awesome, Into the Woods. Ink: (Memento Luxe) Rich Cocoa, Bahama Blue. (Memento) Tuxedo Black. (Ranger Distress) Broken China. Dies: (Lawn Fawn) #awesome. Patterned Paper: (Lawn Fawn) Let's Polka.)

How cute is that fox? I can't remember the last time I created a card without any embellishments... no enamel dots, sequins, or buttons. But I love the simplicity of this. Clean and simple cards are so much fun to make!

Thanks for stopping by. :)

ColourQ | Challenge #233

The last couple weeks I have really struggled to make cards. I'm not in my usual creative groove after taking almost a week off at the end of February, and this rut is driving me crazy! I usually love working in my office in the evenings after the kids have gone to bed, but the past few weeks I've really had to force myself to do it. And even then, I spend most of my time rearranging my supplies or watching Teen Wolf (my current guilty pleasure).

After trying my usual "get out of my creative rut" tricks, I turned to a few of my favorite cardmakers, and decided to find an inspiration card to pull me in a new direction. Danielle Flanders is one of my favorites right now... lots of white space, pops of color, unique embellishments, and layering. This card really stood out to me, so it became my starting point. I am entering my card in this week's ColourQ challenge:

I really like the masked chevron background that Danielle created with her Center Stage cover plate die, which I also own. I used my Heidi Swapp Color Shine mist in Coral to create the background for my card. I stamped the sentiment, from Basket of Blessings, with Ranger Archival Jet Black ink. The flowers were made using the Lovely Layers stamps and dies. I wanted the coral chevron pattern to show through the flowers, so I used light weight vellum (instead of white cardstock) for pieces of the flowers. Two Papertrey Ink buttons and a handful of enamel dots, from My Mind's Eye, finish off the card.

(Supplies- Stamps: (Papertrey Ink) Basket of Blessings, Lovely Layers. Ink: (Stampin' Up!) Pacific Point, Lucky Limeade, Going Gray. (Ranger) Archival Jet Black. Mist: (Heidi Swapp) Color Shine Coral. Cardstock: (Stampin' Up!) Pacific Point, White. (Michaels stores) Vellum. Dies: (Papertrey Ink) Center Stage cover plate, Lovely Layers. (Mama Elephant) Femme Frames. Buttons: (PTI) Enchanted Evening. Enamel Dots: My Mind's Eye. Other: Twine.)

I had so much fun creating this card! Hopefully my creativity will return sometime soon. :)
Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

Pages with Papertrey | Challenge #31

* This is my second post of the day. Please scroll down or click here to see this week's Paper Smooches Sparks Anything Goes challenge card. Thanks!

I am playing along with Leigh's Pages with Papertrey challenge this week... except I forgot to use Papertrey Ink products on my layout! But I did follow the sketch so I thought I would post it anyway. I used my Studio Calico Office Hours scrapbook kit, plus Sugar Rush scrapbook kit and Spreadsheet add-on kit.

I haven't printed photos in a few months, so I pulled out an old three up album and searched for some pictures of Evan that I haven't scrapbooked yet. These photos are from April 2007... I can't believe how little he is in these photos! They were taken almost 7 years ago. I still have the WSU Cookie Monster shirt he's wearing, and I remember buying the jean jacket because it was just too cute. :)

The "spring" die cut was originally white, but I wanted a darker color so I used my Gray Flannel Memento Luxe ink pad and recolored it. To speed up the drying process, I used my heat gun to set the ink.

Thanks for stopping by!

Paper Smooches Sparks | Anything Goes

Good morning!

This week's Paper Smooches Sparks challenge is Anything Goes!

The dinosaurs from Cuteasaurus have always been favorites of mine. They are perfect for birthday cards and little notes to my kids. And the sentiment? So cute. With St. Patrick's Day just around the corner, I went with a green/white/kraft color scheme. I hand cut these dinosaurs and mounted them with foam tape, but I definitely have the matching dies on my wish list! The patterned paper and star sequins are from Studio Calico.

Make sure to check out the projects from the rest of the DT:

CAS(E) This Sketch | Challenge #68

Good morning! I have a card to share for this week's CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge.

My new Lawn Fawn supplies are still sitting on my desk, so I decided to create another card using Penelope's Blossoms and paper from the Let's Polka 6x6 pad. I also pulled out my March Simon Says Stamps card kit, which includes coordination Lawn Fawn paper. The "Happy Birthday" stamps are from the November 2013 Simon Says Stamp card kit.

(Supplies - Stamps: (Lawn Fawn) Penelope's Blossoms. (SSS) November 2013 Card Kit. Dies: (Lawn Fawn) Penelope's Blossoms. (PTI) Limitless Layers Ovals 3.5". Cardstock: (Bazzill) Pink. (PTI) Harvest Gold, white. Ink: (PTI) Berry Sorbet, Aqua Mist, New Leaf, Harvest Gold. (Studio Calico) Blush Crush. (Memento) Tuxedo Black. Sequins: Lawn Fawn. Gems: Michaels.)

Check back tomorrow for my card for this week's Paper Smooches Sparks challenge! Have a great weekend. :)

RetroSketches | Challenge #105

I created a card today for this weeks Retro Sketches challenge:

I combined some older Hero Arts stamps and dies with new patterned paper from this month's Studio Calico card kit add on: Water Cooler. My mom sent me a set of Wink of Stella glitter markers for my birthday, and I added the clear glitter to the edges of each of the butterflies, but the glitter didn't photograph well. They are beautiful in person!

(Supplies - Stamps: (Hero Arts) Butterflies 3. (Studio Calico) Hugs & Kisses. Ink: (Memento) Black. Cardstock: Studio Calico. Dies: (Hero Arts) Butterflies 3. Patterned Paper: (Studio Calico) Water Cooler kit. Button: (Studio Calico) Pink Studio Style pack. Enamel dots: My Mind's Eye. Other: Wink of Stella marker, white thread.)

This paper makes me happy... I love the tiny flowers and pink and green color combo. Perfect for spring!

Have a good week. :)

Lawnscaping Challenge | Bling It!

Today I am playing along with this week's Lawnscaping Challenge: Bling it!

I picked up two new Lawn Fawn stamp sets, matching dies, plus some paper and sequins from Simon Says Stamp last week, and I was very excited to pull them out and play. Here is what I came up with:

I started by stamping the largest flower from Penelope's Blossoms with PTI's Aqua Mist ink in the center of my card. I added smaller purple flowers with PTI's Winter Wisteria Ink. The two smallest flowers were stamped with PTI's Harvest Gold and and Hibiscus Burst ink. I added small clear gems to the center of some of the pink and yellow flowers.

I stamped the large cluster of flowers with VersaMark ink and added Powder Zing embossing powder after die cutting the image from white cardstock. The sentiment and banner were also stamped with VersaMark ink onto Harvest Gold cardstock and embossed with white embossing powder. I adhered the flower clusters with foam tape, and I doubled up the foam tape under the banner to give it more dimension. And I had to add more "bling" under the sentiment. :)

Paper Smooches Sparks | Picture Perfect Challenge

Good morning!

This week's Paper Smooches Sparks Picture Perfect Challenge is a fun one:

I was inspired by the twine hanging from the funnels, and the circular flower pots. Here is what I came up with:

(Supplies - Die: (Paper Smooches) Thanks Word Die. Cardstock: (PTI) White, Aqua Mist. Patterned paper, sequins: Lawn Fawn. Gems: Hero Arts. Twine: Papertrey Ink.)

I die cut the "thanks" die three times from Aqua Mist cardstock and adhered them together, creating a thick die cut word. I used glue dots to adhere the sequins, then added gems on top.

Make sure to check out the rest of the design team and their projects!

Virginia's View Challenge | Watercoloring

Today I have a card for the first ever Virginia's View Challenge: Watercoloring.

My supply of watercolors is limited to a couple of Crayola watercolor sets that the kids use, so I pulled out my Gelatos and used those instead. I created an emboss resist with Wplus9's Fanciful Feathers set. After I embossed the feathers with white embossing powder, I colored some of the pink gelato onto my craft mat, then used a wet brush to pick up the color and apply it to my card front. I used watercolor paper (from Michaels) to avoid warping or pilling of the paper.

After the paper dried, I spritzed on some Heidi Swapp color shine in Primrose and Gold Lame, then adhered the watercolor panel onto gold shimmer paper. The "thank you" sentiment was stamped onto vellum (also from Michaels), then embossed with gold embossing powder. I finished off the card with some gold sequins from my stash.

(Supplies - Stamps: (Wplus9) Fanciful Feathers. Ink: VersaMark. Cardstock: (PTI) Gold Shimmer. Watercolor paper, vellum: Michaels stores. Patterned Paper: Making Memories. Color Medium: Gelatos, Heidi Swapp Color Shine. Other: Sequins, gold and white embossing powder.)

Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Papertrey Ink | Make It Monday #154

Hi friends! I have a card to share tonight for this week's Make It Monday: Color & Texture Tips for One Layer Cards

While my card isn't technically a one layer card (I used a new die set from Mama Elephant: Femme Frames), I did use one of the techniques from Erin Lincoln's video: embossing! I used Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black ink and clear embossing powder for the "congratulations" sentiment.

(Supplies - Stamps: (Papertrey Ink) Bigger Blooms. Ink: (PTI) Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Limeade Ice, New Leaf, Simply Chartreuse, Soft Stone (Memento Luxe) Tuxedo Black. Cardstock: (PTI) Aqua Mist, Simply Chartreuse, White.)

Have a wonderful Friday!

Traditional Layout | Blue Mohawk

A few months ago I discovered the Printicular app for printing Instagram photos directly from my smart phone, and I admit, I'm addicted to it! I usually print photos every 1-2 weeks, and picking them up from Walgreens is convenient, inexpensive, and best of all, fast! Our Walgreens is 1 mile from our house, and I can pick them up (usually) the same day.

A couple of months ago I had a batch printed, including this photo of Jack and his blue mohawk. Isn't he awesome? My old iPhone 4 had a crappy camera, so most of my photos were dark, out of focus, grainy, or just plain bad. Thankfully this one turned out! And my new phone has a 13.1 mega pixel camera and I've been really happy with the prints.

I scanned this layout, and while it turned out fine, the colors are a little off in some places. The yellow washi on the right is actually a light green in person. I used bits and pieces from several Studio Calico kits, and a few things from my stash. The background paper is from a My Mind's Eye paper stack that I picked up at Michaels a few weeks ago. And I used my favorite Crate Paper slide frames from their Pier collection. I have two packs of these and I'm afraid of running out! They are one of my favorite products released in 2013.

The "file this under awesome" card is from a past Studio Calico kit, and I think it works perfectly on my layout. I *do* think Jack looks awesome with his blue mohawk. And he was so proud of it... he wouldn't let us wash his hair for two days & cried when I finally did rinse the blue die out. :)

I'll be back tomorrow with a few cards. Have a great night!

Digital Layout | Mye's Hopscotch Project Life Kit

I had the privilege of working with Mye's new Hopscotch collection last week... a fantastic new Project Life style digital scrapbooking kit. Well, kits. She has created so many new products that coordinate, including templates, 2x2, 3x4, 4x4, and 4x6 cards, vellum cuts, flair, and many more!

I used one of her new templates and a handful of other Hopscotch products to create a layout with some cute photos of Evan. He has the sweetest smile... I just wish he would allow me to photograph him more often!

I haven't been in my office in almost a week (my Uncle is in town and I've been spending my evenings with him!), but that will change tomorrow. I have several new challenges I want to create cards for, plus two layouts that are "in progress" and need to be finished. I also need to use up my February Studio Calico kit before my March kit ships in a few days. I might resort to bribing the kids with extra xBox time tomorrow so I can get some work done!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!
