Digital Layouts | February Edition

**This is my second post of the day. To see my Paper Smooches Sparks Designer Drafts challenge card, scroll down or click here.

I've had another busy month for Pixels & Company, creating layouts for Scotty Girl Designs and various P&Co. designers. Working with so many wonderful people is one of my favorite things about being on the P&Co. creative team.

Baseball
The kids and I met our friends, the Kriners, at a Brevard Manatees game last year for dinner and a late game. The little boys were a little antsy before the game started (due to a rain delay), but we had a fun evening together.

Instagram 2013
These film strip/photo slides are awesome! I used them as "homes" for 6 Instagram pictures.

evan & jack | november 2013
I love, love, love these pictures, and this frame shows them off beautifully.

Playmobil
Jack-a-boo and his favorite Playmobil sets.

Pool Day
Evan and Jack are counting down the days until it is warm enough for a swim. Hopefully by spring break they can dive in. These photos were taken during our last trip to the pool last year... a sad day for Evan and Jack! They want to go into the pool year-round. :)

Love This
A perfectly sunny day at the soccer fields. The spring season starts next weekend and our weekends (and most week nights!) will be full of soccer games and practices for the next 10 weeks.

New Room
Jack and Evan now have their own rooms, and I captured this shot of Jack playing by himself in his new room. Jack didn't want his own room at first, but he had a habit of waking up at the crack of dawn and turning on all the lights, waking poor Evan up early on the weekend. Evan was more than happy to kick Jack out so he could get some sleep.

Reading
My two sweet boys... look how little they are! And Jack with his pup-pup and hippo. He was such a cuddle bug. Still is, most of the time. Evan was a reluctant reader when he was younger, but now he goes through books faster than I can download them onto his Kindle.

Snow
I can't believe it's been four years since our first winter in Ohio... and Evan was a little munchkin in these photos! I bundled him up and sent him out to play in the snow, but I couldn't find his mittens, so he was wearing layers of socks on his hands.

I am off to bed... my uncle is in town for the next week and we have some fun things planned. Have a great week!

Paper Smooches Sparks | Desinger Drafts Challenge

Good morning!

Today is the start of this week's PSS Designer Drafts Challenge! Here is the sketch:

I created a vertical card using five Paper Smooches stamp sets: Botanicals 1, Botanicals 2, Chit Chat, Kissables 1, and Kissables 2. All my stamping was done with Memento Luxe ink. I was thrilled when I found a pack of hot pink and gray enamel dots to match the Rose Bud Memento Luxe ink & soft stone cardstock. I admit, my enamel dots stash is growing and growing... I'm addicted to these things! Peachy Cheap had a deal a couple of weeks ago for 5 packs of dots and I hit "buy" instantly. You can never have too many colors, right? :)

And make sure to check out the other design team memebers' cards. Here are the links:

Wplus9 | Trend Watch Challenge

My second card is for this week's Wplus9 challenge: Trend Watch. I used sequins, gold shimmer, gold enamel dots, and stripes:

(Supplies - Stamps: (Wplus) Fresh Cut Florals, Bitty Buddy Valentines. Ink: (Memento Luxe) Angel Pink, Rose Bud, Nautical Blue, gold. Cardstock: (PTI) White, Sweet Blush. Patterned Paper: (PTI) Enchanted Evening Patterns Pack. Gold sequins, enamel dots: Studio Calico. Button: Studio Calico. Pink enamel dots: Studio Calico. Dies: (Wplus9) Fresh Cut Florals.)

I am wearing out my Fresh Cut Florals stamp set... but I can't help it. It's one of my favorite stamp sets ever. :)

Have a great week!

Papertrey Ink | Make it Monday #152

This week's Make it Monday technique is called Layering Die & Pigment ink... just like I did on this card! I really do love this technique so I created another card for this challenge.

I stamped the Background Basics: Super Stripes first with white pigment ink onto white cardstock. Then I stamped the flowers over the stripes with various dye inks from Papertrey Ink. I die cut some Papertrey Ink Soft Stone cardstock with a label basics die, then stamped the frame with Scarlet Jewel ink and added a sentiment from Ruby Rose. I finished off my card with a few gray and aqua enamel dots, a button, and some seem binding.

(Supplies - Stamps: (Papertrey Ink) Ruby Rose, Ruby Reprise, Label Basics, Background Basics: Super Stripes. (PTI) Pure Poppy, Limeade Ice, Scarlet Jewel, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Orange Zest. (Memento) Black. Cardstock: (PTI) White, Soft Stone. Dies: (PTI) Label Basics. Enamel Dots: My Mind's Eye. Button: (Studio Calico) Green Color Theory. Ribbon: Papertrey Ink.)

Check back in a few... I have one more card to post tonight. Thanks for stopping by!

CAS-ual Fridays | Challenge #128

Hi there! I hope everyone had a nice long weekend. I spent most of the weekend working on my project life album, and I'm happy to say that I'm *almost* all caught up. I really love this project, but I'm always behind! This year I'm trying to change that.

Anyway, I have a card for this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge: So Long. I used two stamp sets from Papertrey Ink (by designer Erin Lincoln) for my card: Background Basics: Diagonals and It's a Banner Day. I also used Mini Blooms.

I stamped the chevron pattern with Memento Luxe Angel Pink pigment ink, then stamped the flowers with Archival black ink. The chevron pattern soaks into the black ink and you can see it through the black flowers. The look is more subtle in person, but I think it's pretty cool.

The other part of this week's challenge is to create a card that isn't a standard A2 size. I trimmed my card down to 3.5 x 5.5 inches.

That's it for me tonight! Thanks for stopping by and have a great week.

ColourQ | Challenge #228

This week's ColourQ challenge is another beautiful color combination:

I don't have a Cool Caribbean ink pad so I substituted with Papertrey Ink's Aqua Mist ink (and patterned paper). Half the hearts I coated with clear embossing powder, and several I popped up with foam tape. I used Papertrey Ink's double ended banner die for the sentiment, stamped with Ruby Red ink. The twin is Papertrey Ink's Pure Poppy twine.

The boys are finished with their Valentine's cards (for classmates), and they are packed up and ready for school tomorrow. Jack is feeling better and will go back to school tomorrow after staying home for the past three days... he had a nasty virus and spent three days sleeping on the couch.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Retro Sketches | Challenge #101

I admit, I was stalking our UPS guy on Tuesday, waiting for my (very heavy!) Studio Calico box to arrive. I love, love, love this month's kits... especially the Taffy add-on! And the gold embossed vellum, which is even prettier in person.

I used my kit to create a card for this week's Retro Sketches challenge:

The balloon was stamped in Limeade Ice ink (from Papertrey Ink), then die cut using Studio Calico's Balloons and Bows die. I also die cut a bow from the same die set. The gold sequins are from Studio Calico's new Color Theory line, and they match the gold vellum perfectly!

(Supplies - Stamps: (PTI) Wishes Come True. (Studio Calico) Taffy card kit. Ink: (Papertrey Ink) Black, Limeade Ice. Patterned Paper: Studio Calico. Sequins: (Studio Calico) Gold Color Theory pack. Enamel Dots: My Mind's Eye. Dies: (Studio Calico) Balloons and Bows.

I have so many card ideas for the Taffy stamp set.... It's one of my favorite SC stamps to date!

Thanks for looking!

Papertrey Ink Anniversary Celebration | Stripes

I have a card to share today for another Papertrey Ink Anniversary Celebration challenge... this one is stripes!

To create the "Happy" die cut, I adhered 5 strips of 1 1/8" cardstock to a piece of white scrap paper, making sure the edges lined up perfectly. I positioned the Happy die over the strips and used a sticky note to temporarily stick the die to the paper. Because the cardstock was extra thick, I ran it through my die cut machine 3 or 4 times to ensure a clean cut. I popped out the die cut and adhered it to my card using foam adhesive.

The aqua and pink stars are die cut from Sea and Raspberry shimmer paper, also from Papertrey Ink.

(Supplies - Stamps: (Papertrey Ink) Everyday Happiness. Ink: (Papertrey Ink) Hawaiian Shores. Cardstock: (PTI) White, New Leaf, Sweet Bush, Harvest Gold, Raspberry Fizz, Hawaiian Shores. Shimmer cardstock: (PTI) Sea and Raspberry. Dies: (Papertrey Ink) Tipped Topped, Star Gazer. Enamel Dots: My Mind's Eye. Gems: Hero Arts. Patterned Paper: (Papertrey Ink) Hibiscus Burst Patterns Pack.)

I hope you like my striped card! Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great week!

Papertrey Ink | Papertrey Ink Anniversary Celebration

Hello there! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I spent way too much time watching the Olympics. Did anyone else watch the team figure skating event? I love it!

I have a card one of Papertrey Ink's anniversary celebration challenges. I used this sketch and color combo:

This color combo is not one that I would normally choose, but I really like the pure poppy/scarlet jewel together. I added gold sequins, gold pearls, and gold gems. I also looped some gold DMC floss under the large pure poppy flower.

(Supplies - Stamps: (Papertrey Ink) Ruby Rose, Ruby Reprise, Quilled Elegance. Ink: (PTI) Dark Chocolate, Fine Linen, Kraft, Pure Poppy, Scarlet Jewel. Cardstock: (PTI) Scarlet Jewel, Fine Linen. Patterned Paper: Classic Kraft Patterns Pack, Scarlet Jewel Patterns Pack. Dies: (PTI) Rupy Rose. Sequins: Studio Calico. Gems, pearls: Hero Arts. Gold floss: Studio Calico.)

Thanks for stopping by!

Wplus9 | Comfort Zone Challenge

Hi there! I have a card for Wplus9's Comfort Zone Challenge. I like clean lines, florals, pretty colors, and layers! I used Wplus9's Coming Up Roses, More Fresh Cuts, and Fresh Cut Wreaths for my card:

I die cut the vase from the center of a large gold doily, then adhered it to a die cut piece of white cardstock (for stability). It is super shimmery in person. I used pop dots to adhere the vase, then layered the flowers over and under it.

That's it for me tonight! Thanks for stopping by. :)

CAS-ual Fridays | Challenge #127

Hi there! I have one more card to share tonight, this one for this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge: Over the Edge.

I used one of my new stamp sets, from Unity, called Bunches of Love. I initially purchased this stamp set for the sentiments (great font!), but I love how big the flower/leaf image is and decided to make it the focal point of my card. I stamped the flowers on the top of my card, then flipped the cardstock over and stamped it again, overlapping the leaves just slightly. I used Copic markers to color in the stamped image.

That's it for me tonight! I am off to bed... I fear I have a cold coming on. Time for some rest and Nyquil. :)

Have a wonderful week!

Mama Elephant | Photo Inspiration Challenge

Happy Monday, friends!

Mama Elephant has an elegant photo inspiration challenge for us this month and I decided to play along.

I used three Mama Elephant sets for my card: On Target, Smitten, and Modern Borders

I stamped the hexagon background stamp with Gray Flannel Memento Luxe ink. The pink patterned paper is from Studio Calico, which I spritzed with Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Primrose. I die cut the leaves from vellum, and the doily from white cardstock. I stamped the heart on white cardstock with Angel Pink Memento Luxe ink then punched it out with a 1 inch circle punch from EK Success. I added the sentiment, from Smitten, which Memento black ink. I  adhered the flowers (from Freckled Fawn) with glue dots. The silver enamel dots are from My Mind's Eye.

I love the pink, white, and silver color combo of this challenge! And have you noticed that vellum is everywhere? I have been adding it to practically every project I've made lately.

Thanks for stopping by!

Paper Smooches Sparks | Anything Goes Challenge

** I am so sorry for the delay! I accidentally scheduled the post to go live Monday morning instead of Sunday morning.

Good morning!

This week's Paper Smooches Sparks challenge is Anything Goes!

I used two Paper Smooches Stamp sets for my card: Botanicals 2 and Scripty Sayings. The sentiment was stamped on a piece of vellum that I cut into a banner. I used ColorBox Pigment ink for the flowers/leaves.

Make sure to check out the other DT members for their Anything Goes cards!

Studio Calico | Blue Note & Copper Mountain

Hi there! I have a card and a layout to share tonight, using December's Blue Note card kit & January's Copper Mountain scrapbook kit (from Studio Calico). I used this week's Sunday Sketch as inspiration for both my projects.

First up is the card. I really like this navy and white star paper and I used it for the background of my card. The sentiment is from December's stamp set, and the pink and silver stars are from a different kit (I can't remember which one).

My layout features a picture of my nephew, Carter. Isn't he darling?!? I love this photo. He is about a month old and I love his sweet little face! So cute.

I am slowly making my way through my kits from November, December, and January... my goal is to "kill them" before my February kit arrives sometime late next week!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I will be back tomorrow with a card for next week's Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge (Anything Goes!). See you then!
