Papertrey Ink | Make It Monday #150

Hi there! I have a card to share for this week's Make It Monday: Window Screen Cards.

I pulled out some clear cardstock (instead of using a die) for my window. I also used Limited Layers: Squares, Wonderful Words: Hello, and Background Basics: Medallions.

One of my favorite things from Melissa's video is the glitter frame... so I replicated that on my card. I die cut Aqua Mist gingham paper from Limitless Layers Squares, then ran it through my Xyron machine before applying clear glitter. I die cut a square out of Harvest Gold cardstock, then adhered a piece of clear cardstock to the back.

(Supplies - Stamps: (PTI) Background Basics: Medallions, Wonderful Words: Hello. Ink: (PTI) Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest, Hawaiian Shores. Cardstock: (PTI) Harvest Gold, White. Patterned Paper: (PTI) Aqua Mist patterns pack. Dies: (PTI) Limitless Layers Squares, Double Ended Banner, Wonderful Words: Hello. Other: Glitter, button, twine, gems.)

That's it for me, tonight! Thanks for looking. :)

Reverse Confetti | January Color Challenge

Hi there! I have one more card to share today... and I used mist! Again! I know, I'm shocked, too. Heidi Swapp's Color Shine mist is really cool and I couldn't help myself. I picked up four new colors earlier this week at Michaels (along with her new ink! and stamps! and acrylic letters!), and now I want to spray everything in sight with Color Shine. I used her teal and mint colors on my butterfly, although the mint is more aqua and less minty than I would like. It's a beautiful color, but I wouldn't call it mint.

Anyway, this card is for Reverse Confetti's January Color challenge:

I used a butterfly from Heidi Swapp's color change ephemera pack and sprayed with teal mist all over, and mint mist in the center. I heat set it (because I'm impatient), then layered it over a tag I die cut with Reverse Confetti's Tag Me die. I added a vellum butterfly + yellow button on top. I stamped the sentiment, also from Reverse Confetti, with Heidi Swapp's Teal ink pad.

(Supplies - Stamp: (Reverse Confetti) Lots to Say. Ink: (Heidi Swapp) Teal. Patterned Paper: Studio Calico. Dies: (Reverse Confetti) Tag It. (PTI) Beautiful Butterflies. Cardstock: (PTI) Kraft, vellum. Button, Twine: Papertrey Ink.)

That's it for me tonight! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by!

CAS(E) This Sketch | Challenge #61

Hi there! I have a confession: I own a lot of crafty stuff. Papers, cardstock, stamps (oh, the stamps!), ribbon, etc., etc., etc. I also have a lot of tools and color mediums that I purchased on a whim because someone did something cool with it, and I just had to have it. But here's the thing... I'm really bad about using those tools. I forget I have them and they sit in a box, unused. For months. Or years

I am trying to change that.

Gelatos are one of those "had to have" items that I haven't done much with. I have tried a few different techniques but haven't been wild about the results. I'm a "clean" cardmaker and the messiness of gelatos make them hard for me to use... but I own 10 or 12 of them, and I was determined to use them on a card. Then I spotted this card (the first one) and I love how the feather turned out. It looks like watercolor, bu the white embossing powder make it look crisp and clean. I pulled out Feather Finery from PTI and replicated the look. I love the results! I used three blue/teal gelatos over white embossing powder. After it dried, I stamped the dots with gold pigment ink.

(Supplies - Stamps: (PTI) Feather Finery. (Paper Smooches) Scripty Sayings. Ink: (Heidi Swapp) Teal. Versamark. Color Medium: Gelatos. Dies: (PTI) Feather Finery. (Paper Smooches) Frame 1 Die. Patterned Paper: Studio Calico. Sequins: Lawn Fawn. Enamel Dots: My Mind's Eye.)

I am entering my card in this week's CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge.

And now I love gelatos. :)

I hope my card inspires you to pull out a neglected supply or try or a new technique. I had a lot of fun playing around with gelatos for this challenge.

Thanks for stopping by!

Krafting with Karla | Digital Layouts

I have been working for the insanely talented Karla Dudley for almost 4 years, and she finally(!) created her own class to show off her favorite tips and tricks at Scrapaneers.com. I created a couple of layouts using her methods and I love them. :)

I used a new kit from Scotty Girl Designs called Distressed Patterns 2 for this layout:

It's time to wrap this up so I don't fall asleep on my keyboard... too many late nights lately! I hope you have a great week and thanks for stopping by!

Paper Smooches Sparks | Anything Goes

Good morning!

This week's Paper Smooches Sparks challenge is Anything Goes!

I pulled out two new stamp sets and a new die set for my card: Just a Note, We Totally Click, and Toppers dies. The leaves, pink, and teal patterned paper are from American Crafts.

I am also entering my card in this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge: Color Blocks.

Make sure to check out the rest of the DT's creations!

CAS(E) This Sketch | Challenge #60

I have two more cards to share tonight. First up is a card for this week's CAS(E) This Sketch challenge:

I pulled out Papertrey Ink's Polka Dot Parade #11 stamp set & dies. This owl is so, so cute! I used my Momento Luxe for the owl body, wings, heart belly, and eye lashes. The glitter paper I used for the "i" and "u" is from American Crafts, and the patterned paper is from Carta Bella.

I close up of the cute little owl, branch, and sequin flowers.

I have one more card to share today, this one is a "just because" card... no challenge, assignment, or deadline. Just because I wanted to use some of my new Heidi Swapp color shine mist. I sprayed her Mint mist first, then layered a few spritzes of her gold mist onto white cardstock.

After the mist dried, I embellished with shimmer cardstock, gold foil paper, vellum, die cut and stamped flowers, buttons, sequins, and twine.

A close up of the embellishments:

That's it for me tonight! Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

Wplus9 | Monday Mood Board #25

Happy Friday, friends!

I have a lovely layered card to share for this week's Monday Mood Board.

I used Wplus9's Fanciful Feathers stamp set & dies. I created the background first, stamping the feathers diagonally onto white cardstock with gold ink. I added light blue, medium blue, and yellow dots on top of the feathers. The doily, feathers, sentiment, and enamel dots were added last.

I prefer basic, generic sentiments that can work for a variety of recipients and/or occasions. The sentiments in this set are some of my favorites.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend. :)

ColourQ | Challenge #224

Hi there! I am back home and back to feeling crafty. I love coming home to my office after a long break and I was anxious to dive into a few projects last night. I'm still working on finishing up my December Daily album, and I also pulled out the January Studio Calico kit to create a card for this week's ColourQ challenge.

I used Memento Luxe ink in Gray Flannel for the whale. I wanted the ink to look a bit splotchy and uneven (for realism), so I pressed down harder around the edges, then die cut the whale (and the spray of water) from white cardstock. I am out of Island Indigo cardstock and substituted Bazzill's Moody Blue cardstock. The patterned paper, stamps, dies, jawbreakers (great name!), "hi" button, and washi are also from this month's Studio Calico kit (Copper Mountain).

I hope everyone has a great week! Thanks for stopping by. :)

Paper Smooches Sparks | Picture Perfect Challenge

Good morning! This week's is the Picture Perfect challenge for Paper Smooches Sparks. I have posted before about my love of all things yellow and gray, so today's challenge is perfect for me!

I pulled out my Sweet Hearts stamp set and Love Word Die to create my card. The yellow and gray is unexpected for a "love" card, but I think it works. I cut out the "love" die three times, then glued them together before adhering the stacked sentiment to my card. Trying to add dimensional adhesive to intricate dies can be difficult, and this method works great.

Make sure to check out the samples by our other DT members!

I am heading back home tomorrow and my blog will return to normal by the end of next week. My month long vacation has been wonderful... but it's time for life to return to normal!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

CAS-ual Fridays | Challenge #125

Hi there! I have a CAS card for this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge: In a Word

I love my Stitches and Swirls stamp set and I was super excited to receive the new shadow companion set... both are versatile, beautiful stamp sets! For this card, I stamped the stitches stamps first, then layered over those images with shadow images in a lighter shade of pink. My "word" for this challenge is happy! I die cut the script "happy" from Papertrey Ink's One Liners: Happy die.

I am off to dinner with Mark... we are taking advantage of having my parents in town for one more night! Gotta love date night with free babysitting. :)

Have a great week!
